Tw@tter
Well, another 2 months gone, time for an update. I'm off to Rwanda tomorrow and am half-packed so far, with such essentials as 100 glowsticks and lots of sweets requested by the expats. Hoping it's going to be great fun, I've been getting texts all week from those who are already out there, so it's going to be good to see them once I get there on Sunday.
I'm not too hopeful about the chances of getting internet access, so if you want to see what I'm up to, I have (somewhat reluctantly) signed up to Twitter. I still don't quite understand it, but apparently I can text it short updates, kind of like the status thing on facebook that I don't do that often, unlike some people who I hear update it like every 5 minutes. No, I'll do the odd one to save having to text everyone individually, at least that's the idea, you can follow it here.

What news have I got since the last update then? Well, I saw my eye consultant earlier this week and in fact have got a little bit worse again, so he's going to attempt some more lasering in September. Apparently I have the dubious honour of being the first person needing a redo since they switched to the intralase all-laser procedure, but given my initial starting prescription, it's not hugely surprising. Slightly disconcerting was his comment that he's "never lifted an intralase flap" before, but the technique he assures me is the same, and I've no reason to doubt his ability. So I've booked another week of study leave and will fit the studying around the op.
On a more positive note, I managed to win a mobile phone by getting the "Letter of the Week" in Heat magazine earlier this month, I had been trying to win one for my dad to borrow as he left his phone at the flat in Cyprus, and has been driving mum mad borrowing hers and forgetting to give it back or pass on messages. I had a brainwave for the sort of thing that I thought might get picked after realising that Heat give away a phone or something every week, and it paid off (you can see my work of literary "genius" above)!
I'm heading off now to do some more packing, will perhaps do an update when I return, grubby and aching from 2 weeks camping...
