Hannah's daily gubbins

Ladies and Gentlemen of the internet, enjoy my blog. If I could offer you only one tip for future happiness, dailygubbins would be it. The long-term benefits of reading my blog have been proved by doctors (ie, me), whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I will commence this advice now...

First of many?

I reckon that writing an interesting blog is going to be even harder than choosing the background colour scheme, which has taken me the last 10 minutes to decide upon and probably will still look shit. We shall see. I'm not sure why recounting the minutiae of ones mundane life should be at all interesting to read, but I shall try my best... Steve has talked me into doing it so it's only right that he should get the first mention.

Anyway, today is friday and I am killing time before making myself some dinner. It's been a lovely day today, except I had to spend most of it inside on the computer filling in endless forms for my appraisal which I am having next week. It's one of those NHS hoops that we all have to jump through in order to convince them that we are good and proper and lacking in Shipman tendencies. The only good thing is that I get paid a days' wages for doing it, although last year after listening to my appraiser droning on about personal development plans and 360-degree analysis, I was ready to chew my own arm off.

Then I went to the tip to get rid of some garden waste. I think that going to the tip is a man's job, but as I unfortunately do not have one of those, I have to do it myself. It's darn uncomfortable on the shelf, I tell you. Maybe I should get back on the internet dating sites - perhaps a topic for another day?

Just got interrupted by a call from Russ who has applied to join the RAF as he's fed up with confiscating home cinema systems from Essex chavs (he's a bailiff). I'll be delighted if he gets in, but am still unable to picture him taking it seriously enough. At least he's going for the admin side rather than flying, seeing as how he spent most of the flight when we went ski-ing looking terrified and hyperventilating. Apparently he wants me to be a reference for his application, so he'd better be nice to me...

I can't be bothered to cook dinner now. I was going to have pasta with an asparagus, ham and cream sauce, but don't feel hungry so will probably just have leftover rhubarb and strawberry crumble. The same thing happened last week, I spent ages making a delicious curry, having craved it for days, and then once I'd cooked it, I'd gone off the idea. It's now in the freezer for another time.

Tonight I will be mostly watching TV, might flick on to Big Brother although I'm not so into it that I'm gutted if I miss an episode. Wine of the day is an Ernest and Julio Gallo white Zinfandel (£3.99 Sainsburys - currently saving a pound off usual price) which is rather nice, alternatively I've wondered if you can make your own rose wine by diluting red wine with water until you get the desired colour?
